Extra special Chenin produced from just a single barrel

We’re on the Loir here, not the Loire, about an hour south of the racing town of Le Mans. Jasnières is a tiny appellation with just 70 hectare declared, Domaine Gigou have 8 of those. Ludovic Gigou is using old vines grown on silex-flecked clay soils to produce outstanding and ageworthy Chenin Blanc.

Ludovic selects what he considers the best juice for this wine – the plots have varied over recent vintages. The wine is aged in a single 20 hectolitre barrel for 23 months. Only 3,200 bottles produced. Very bright and intense with a decadent mouth-filling texture. Everything is ramped up a little here to provide some serious torque. Drink now if you like, but this will keep very well for 10 – 15 years.

Local delivery

Local delivery is available within a 10 mile radius of the shop (NE8 2AJ) for a flat fee of £5. If you spend over £75, we will deliver for free.

We deliver Tuesday – Sunday. Order by 5pm for next day delivery, subject to stock availability. Need it faster? Order by 12pm for same day delivery, excluding Saturdays.

Collection

Free collection from the shop is always available, and you can collect any time during our normal opening hours. Please place your order by 11am on the day of collection, and collect within 7 days.

UK-wide delivery

Wine orders: We offer a flat-rate of £12 for UK delivery on all wine or mixed orders. Food orders: We offer a flat-rate of £5 for UK delivery if your order contains food products only. If you spend over £150, delivery is free.

Please note, as we are closed Monday and Tuesday, orders received over the weekend may not be shipped until Wednesday. Once dispatched, our courier aims to deliver next day. Excludes Northern Ireland. Some areas of Scotland will incur a surcharge, please contact us to confirm.
