Vendanges Tardives Gewurztraminer, Cave de Turckheim (50cl)

Wonderfully pure and balanced late-harvest Gewurztraminer

Widely regarded as one of the best co-operatives in the world, Cave de Turckheim lies at the mouth of the Munster Valley. Working closely with 180 partners, its vineyards span the full breadth of Alsatian terroir and grape varieties. The Vendange Tardive classification prohibits acidification and chaptalisation – all of the residual sugar is natural from grapes grown on granite and gravel soils. ‘Vendange Tardive’, means ‘late harvest’ and describes the viticulture for this style of wine. The wine is only produced in specific years, when extended periods of dry weather allow the grapes to dry out on the vine, concentrating the delicious citrussy aromas.

The 2023 has a more savoury, earthy nose than previous vintages. Bright and sweet on the palate, with notes of orange-blossom and delicate citrus peel. Lemony acidity and a sweet, slightly pithy finish.
