Petit Sauvage Orange, Pierre & Antonin

£17.00

Intriguing Orange wine, made with a hybrid grape variety

Originally from Languedoc, Pierre and Antonin are 2 friends who met in New York in 2010. Ten years later, they joined forces to realize their shared vision of more responsible viticulture. Based near Carcassonne at Pierre’s family domaine, they now champion resilient grape varieties as a model for the future. Their ambition: to make great wines accessible to all in terms of taste and price!

This orange is made from Souvignier Gris, a resistant grape variety. It is a natural cross resulting from hand-pollination between a European vine (Vitis Vinifera) and a wild American vine (Vitis Rupestris), which is resistant to diseases such as powdery mildew and downy mildew. This allows Pierre and Antonin to use up to 15 times fewer treatments than in organic farming, which in turn creates considerable savings in energy, water and labor. The grapes undergo 11 days of skin contact, and 5 months of aging. Notes of jasmine flower, white tea, and peach. On the palate, it offers a full texture and reveals notes of citrus and spices.
