Moulin du Château La Lagune, Haut-Médoc

£24.00

The second wine from this 3rd growth estate

A wine with real pedigree, produced from the young vines of 3rd Classed Growth Château La Lagune in the Haut-Médoc. Chateau La Lagune is located in the Haut-Medoc wine appellation of Bordeaux. It was one of only fourteen 3rd growths (3eme cru classe or troisieme cru) in the historic Bordeaux wine classification of 1855. This remains the highest rating for an Haut-Medoc property. It is located in the commune of Ludon.

The entire vineyard is certified organic, and is farmed biodynamically. The terroir of La Lagune is made up of light gravel and silica. This wine is a blend of 60% Merlot, 33% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 7% Petit Verdot. The grapes are destemmed and undergo a 3 week maceration, with gentle extraction. The wine spends 12 months aging in French oak barrels, of which 40% are new. Notes of intense dark fruits and supple tannins.
