‘Les Filles’ Chignin Bergeron, Gilles Berlioz

An exceptional, low-intervention Savoie white

Gilles Berlioz lost two fingers in an accident working as a builder. Whilst recovering in his hometown of Chignin, he decided to give winemaking a try. He began his own domain in 1990, and now has 6ha of organic vines. In 2016, he decided to rename the domaine, becoming Domaine Partagé, to reflect the years of human encounters with workers, vignerons and customers, all of whom have helped the winery to progress to where it is today.

Les Filles is a tribute to the many women who are involved in Domaine Partagé. The label changes with each vintage, making this iconic wine something of a collector’s item. This is a serious wine, made from 100% Roussanne, and similiar in style to a white St Joseph or even a Hermitage. Grown on clay and limestone, hand-harvested and then fermented and aged on fine lees in fibreglass eggs. Minimal added sulphur. The wine is complex and layered, with notes of peach, apple, apricots, dried white flowers, walnuts, honey and straw.
