In 2009 there were only 400ha of Pineau d’Aunis in France – a rare grape from a tiny appellation, and a great alternative to Pinot Noir

We’re on the Loir here, not the Loire, about an hour south of the racing town of Le Mans. Jasnières is a tiny appellation with just 70 hectares declared, and Domaine Gigou have 8 of those. The Pineau d’Aunis vines are over 120 years old. Grapes are given a very long 12 week maceration in stainless steel, and a 3 month ferment followed by 6 months in amphora.

Although the vines are 120 years old this is a wine to be enjoyed young and fresh. Very fine and elegant with beautifully supple, chalky tannin. Black cherry fruit in abundance with a liquorice twist.

Local delivery

Local delivery is available within a 10 mile radius of the shop (NE8 2AJ) for a flat fee of £5. If you spend over £75, we will deliver for free.

We deliver Tuesday – Sunday. Order by 5pm for next day delivery, subject to stock availability. Need it faster? Order by 12pm for same day delivery, excluding Saturdays.

Collection

Free collection from the shop is always available, and you can collect any time during our normal opening hours. Please place your order by 11am on the day of collection, and collect within 7 days.

UK-wide delivery

We offer a flat-rate of £12 for UK delivery. If you spend over £150, delivery is free. Please note, as we are closed Monday and Tuesday, orders received over the weekend may not be shipped until Wednesday. Once dispatched, our courier aims to deliver next day.
