Jean-Pierre Boisson, former long-serving mayor of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, runs Domaine du Père Caboche with his children Emilie & Nicolas. Members of the Boisson family have been both winemakers and blacksmiths for generations. The family nickname of Caboche derives from the old Provençal word for ‘horseshoe nails’.

This is the Boissons principal red bottling of Châteauneuf’, called simply ‘Domaine du Père Caboche’, which hails from mature rootstock on the Le Crau plateau. It is blended from 70% Grenache, 10% each of Mourvèdre and Syrah and a diverse ‘field blend’ of lesser varieties. It is always a hedonistic and sumptuous offering. It has a bright red fruit bouquet and juicy, hedgerow berry palate supported by silky, soft tannins.
