Juicy red from a hidden corner of the Loire

Domaine du Salvard has been in the Delaille family since the 1890’s. Today, it is in the hands of 5th generation Emmanuel and Thierry, who farm the 45 hectares with sustainability in mind. They carefully manage water resources in the vineyard and practice minimal intervention in the vineyards. 

The appellation of Cheverny extends along the left bank of the Loire from Sologne to the outskirts of Orleans. Unusually for the Loire Valley, the Cheverny AOC dictates specific blending rules – whites must be Sauvignon Blanc, usually blended with Chardonnay, and reds can be Gamay and Pinot Noir, occasionally blended with Cabernet Franc. 90% of production at Domaine du Salvard is dedicated to Cheverny Blanc, making this delicious red quite rare. A blend of Gamay & Pinot Noir, this is juicy and bright, with notes of red fruits and violet.
