Old vine Morgon

The Gauthier family have been making wine in Morgon since 1834 and have passed down for generations into Laurent Gauthier’s hands, who now runs their small artisan estate with his sons Jason and Elie. They hold 11 hectares in total, mostly in Morgon. They are committed to sustainable farming to preserve the soil for future generations of winemakers, limiting use of all chemicals to encourage biodiversity in the vines and they are certified Organic.

This Morgon is produced from 85 year old vines, grown on schist and blue granite soils within a small plot (2ha) of some of the most prestigious terroir in Beaujolais – Cote du Py. An elegantly structured red, with notes of dark fruits, violet and an earthy, mineral finish.
