Chinon Rouge ‘Les Graves’ Organic, Domaine Gasnier

Domaine Fabrice Gasnier is located in the Centre Val de Loire in Cravant-les-Côteaux, a village known for the quality of its wines from the Chinon appellation. For 5 generations, members of this family have succeeded each other, bringing many changes that have shaped the image of the Domaine and allowed it to develop. Aware of their surrounding environment, Sandrine and Fabrice became interested in organic and biodynamic farming in 1998. In 2000, the Estate became fully organic. The 35-hectare vineyard, spread over 40 plots, extends mainly over clay and limestone soils. The estate’s grape variety represents 90% Cabernet Franc and 10% Chenin. The family’s desire is to highlight the most beautiful characteristics of these two emblematic varieties.

This is a lovely Loire Valley Cabernet Franc made from vines between 20 and 40 years old, grown on mainly chalky and gravelly stone soils. The grapes spend 20 days macerating before undergoing a natural fermentation, and ageing in concrete for 6 months. The wine is vinified parcel-by-parcel and then blended accordingly to produce this lovely fresh and expressive bottle of red. Notess of ripe red and black fruit, complimented by classic Cabernet flavours of red fruit and herbaceous notes with supple tannin for a clean elegant style.
