Labranche Laffront, Madiran

Tannat blend from an acclaimed Madiran winemaker

In 1992 when she was just 23, Christine Dupuy took over 6ha of family vineyards when her father died unexpectedly, becoming the youngest winemaker in the Madiran appellation. Vines here are an average age of 50 years old – with one small parcel of pre-phylloxera vines over 140 years old. The vines are pruned hard to ensure a low yield.

Hand harvested grapes, mostly from 45 year old vines produce this well rounded red. Notes of blackberry, blackcurrant and liquorice on the nose. The palate offers a fleshy structure and a rustic finish.
