Clément Baraut, Les Herbes Folles

Zippy and refreshing Chenin blend from biodynamic vineyards near Anjou

Clément is a follower of the 19th century scientist and scholar, Goethe, who gave him the belief that plants have a sensitivity and language like animals do. They don’t like to be cut or pruned, and operate best as they grow in wild nature. As a result, the vines sort of grow free in a wild way: an “uncultivated” garden.

Les Herbes Folles is 40% Chenin Blanc, 40% Sauvignon Blanc and 20% Grolleau Gris. Sweet grapefruit and lime soda on the nose, with herbs, quince and beeswax on the palate. Lots of moreish citrus flavours.
